Ashley really enjoys working on historic and heritage buildings. This combines his love for elegant architecture and restoring and renovating existing buildings for new uses and a new lease of life. Ashley acted as the resident engineer for ANZ’s Gothic Bank for 3-4yrs and completed six separate projects with JLL including building audits, roof replacement works, lantern rejuvenation, installation of fall-arrest systems, BMU replacement, new chillers+cooling towers and investigations to ascertain causes of subsidence and masonry crack repair works.

Ashley oversaw the gutting of the Bristol Hotel in Williamstown and its fantastic conversion into five high-end marvelous apartments, as part of the larger apartment project. This involved temporarily supporting large masonry fire-places at level1 and pouring new fire-rated slabs under them.

Ashley worked with Latrobe University to replace the former copper roof on the Borchardt Library and also to re-purpose 1940’s terraces into office space which required new floors, repairing water-damaged roof trusses, and cutting holes through masonry walls for ductwork.

Ashley schemed a masterplan for a grand private resort at the historic Moondah House in Mt Eliza for Melbourne Business School.

Ashley helped redevelop the heritage listed sports pavilion at The University of Melbourne’s main oval in Parkville.

Ashley designed a new Level 6 ward to go on top of the art-deco heritage-listed St Vincent’s East Melbourne Private Hospital.

Ashley designs gantry frames to preserve and protect masonry facades as part of the redevelopment of iconic building sites.
